Carthusia

In 2004, aged 14, I had the opportunity to visit the Capri, Italy for a day whilst on a trip with my family. Some of the imagery of the island still lingers in my mind, but one image we were able to take home. A candle from a small parfumerie on the island called Carthusia.

The candle sat unburned on a shelf in our guest bathroom for years. The image of the “flower siren” is still one of my favourite images of all time. I had to paint her.
