The Art of Appreciation
enjoying others appreciating art
The perfect picture of art to me used to be devoid of human life. It was the art and only the art. No meddling people getting in the way. I would wait for them to clear and snap an unobstructed photo.
Even with a patience cup filled to the brim, one cannot control the crowd flow in a public space. I decided to start taking photos of the art with others in the frame. They’re much more beautiful with the observers I’ve come to realise.
After all, the holy grail wouldn’t be as interesting if no one else was searching.

In stark contrast and after several months of internationally capturing these photos, I sometimes become impatient when I miss the perfect shot of the observer and the art. Too late, too early, too bad of an angle. I have recently read that top nature photographers will wait more than one week to capture the perfect shot. So, perhaps this is a lesson in patience.
